Hello World! Welcome to Tello’s Travels!

I can’t tell you all how excited I am to finally get this blog up and running. It was a long road for me to get to this point in my life, but all the pieces are finally coming together and it's mesmerizing to think that in a few short weeks I will be leaving the US for Portugal!

As I put this site together, I spent a fair bit of time thinking about what my first post should be about. Unlike my numerous other failed blogging attempts, I would like this to be a legitimate site so the first post had to count! While I’ve drafted a lot of articles for the site, I doubt kicking things off with my fifteen-part post on travel vaccinations is the best way to approach things.

And before you ask, yes, such a thing exists... I had a lot of time on my hands.

Regardless, I knew my first post would be difficult. Just deciding on the name "Tello's Travels" took me an entire day - and sadly I’m not being facetious. The horrible irony was that I wasted an entire day of my life, and ended up going with my first idea anyway. So in honor of my indecisiveness, I’m going with my gut on this one.

Not the best use of my time, but still better than a day at the office.

I've always been a sucker for quotes, sayings, and stories from those wiser than myself. They have played an important role in my life, but there is one quote in particular which has influenced me tremendously. So much so, that if I ever had to pick out a point in time when I officially decided to drop my life in NYC and travel the world, it would be the evening I first saw this video. As such, I feel there is no better way to begin this blog than to pay tribute to the inspirational quote by Alan Watts that started it all.
